Shemaroo Umang’s Leading Ladies Call for Change This Women’s Day with #HarRoleIsHerRole Campaign

Mumbai, March 2025: Women excel in every field, yet traditional representations often limit their aspirations. As the world celebrates Women’s Day, Shemaroo Umang’s lead actresses—Radhika Muthukumar (Main Dil Tum Dhadkan), Aleya Ghosh (Jamuniya), and Diksha Dhami (Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain)—reflect on the importance of breaking deep-rooted gender biases and supporting Shemaroo Entertainment’s #HarRoleIsHerRole campaign.

Even today, men are depicted in leadership roles while women are often shown in roles like teacher or nurse. Every child should grow up knowing that talent, not gender, defines their future. To drive this change, Shemaroo is introducing redesigned occupations charts in schools and NGOs, ensuring equal representation of men and women across professions, helping young minds see a world where opportunities are equal.

Radhika Muthukumar, who plays Vrinda in Main Dil Tum Dhadkan, believes representation matters: “As women, we are multitaskers—balancing careers, families, and dreams. But it’s time the world acknowledges this, starting from school education. Girls should grow up seeing themselves as doctors, engineers, and CEOs, not just caregivers. Every woman’s role—at home or at work—deserves recognition, and #HarRoleIsHerRole is a step towards that change.”

Aleya Ghosh, the lead of Jamuniya, relates her character’s journey to real-world biases: “Jamuniya is underestimated because of how she looks, but she proves her worth through resilience. This happens in real life too—women are often judged before they’re given opportunities. #HarRoleIsHerRole is about rewriting these biases at the root level, so young girls grow up knowing they belong in every field. Women’s Day is about celebrating our achievements, but real change begins when society reflects our contributions accurately.”

For Diksha Dhami, who plays Chaina in Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain, Women’s Day is about reshaping mindsets: “I was inspired by my mother, a talented singer, but many young girls never see role models like her in their textbooks. If we truly believe in gender equality, we need to change how we represent professions to the next generation. #HarRoleIsHerRole is about giving girls the confidence to dream beyond traditional roles and know they belong anywhere they aspire to be.”

This Women’s Day let’s not just celebrate women—let’s push for a world where their ambitions are truly recognized and reflected, starting with education.
Follow the journey of Vrinda, Jamuniya, and Chaina, Monday to Saturday 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM only on Shemaroo Umang.
